With the release of her sixth album, “Butterfly” Mariah Carey soars to new heights, while her feet remain planted on the ground. This album has it all, from gut-wrenching ballads such as the title track “Butterfly” to amazing dance mixes like “The Roof.” Mariah already has a hit on her hands with her first single, “Honey,” which debuted at number one on the Billboard charts. It looks like her next single, “Butterfly,” will do the same. I can’t put this album down. Mariah has gone all out, doing duets with Bone Thugs-n-Harmony in “Breakdown,” writing “Babydoll” with Missy Elliot, and a special appearance by Sean Puffy Combs in “Honey.” Even if you hate these three, don’t pass “Butterfly” by, because the songs are amazing. Clearly Mariah has grown as an artist as well as a person. On a scale from 1 to 10, I give “Butterfly” a 9.5!
