Following these talented young students, the Sac State Jazz Singers came on stage and did an excellent job at their pieces as well. I appreciated the song choices and arrangements for each piece. They definitely showed the hard work and practice they put Into each piece and I overly enjoyed the show they put on. With all of the songs from both groups, dynamics, harmonies, unison, scatting, and different rhythms, especially in 4/4 time signature, were portrayed throughout. I thoroughly enjoyed the entire concert.

I respected the professionalism and passion that the Christian Brothers Vocal Jazz portrayed through their performance. It was nice to see young students who showed Interest in vocal Jazz and performed It very well. Though, I would have to say my favorite pieces came from our own Sac State Jazz Singers, “I’ve Got Life” by Take 6, which was accompanied by a three man band, piano, bass, and drums, who all did an excellent job, and “Radioactive” by Imagine Dragons/Pentatonic. “I’ve Got Life” featured singer Pam Shank who is an outstanding singer. She had such a Jazzy, bluesy, and soulful voice.

The song “Radioactive” was amazing especially because it was similar to the arrangement of he group Pentatonic and was A capable while Ian Malta was beat-boxing throughout. I was very Into the feel of the music that It kept me bobbing my head. I enjoyed these the most. The only thing I disliked about the performances were the change In volume controlled through the microphones. Sometimes you could hear a drastic change from loud to soft during a singer’s solo. Also, during “Radioactive”, I wish that the beat-boxing was put through the speakers more than the monitors because It sounded a bit foggy when sitting In the audience.

Other than that, I enjoyed the hole performance from both groups overall. The practice and dedication was revealed with each song and was very moving and uplifting. There was never a dull moment and I look forward to attending more. Music BIBB By Semester 4 BOB/sectors began with special guests Christian Brothers Vocal Jazz.
