During the beginning of the decade The Federal Communications Commission restrained their authority over the amount of time that commercials were allowed to lure during radio broadcasts.
The result of this decision turned people to the television. MET In particular. MET was Just about commercial free at the time, which attracted listeners. Music videos revived an industry that was in decline in 1979. This hip new show became an instant sensation across the world. Although, it was mostly viewed in the United States, a majority of the videos that were played were from the United Kingdom (Epstein 11). A large reason for the number of videos coming out of the UK was that the expense of producing the music videos for Mats virtual monopoly was Just too much for most American artist of that time.

Like Prince, AC/DC was also in the Rock industry. Parents around the world did not feel comfortable with their children listening to the music of AC/DC. This new heavy metal band came into the rock game off to a not so good start. Although, one of his best-known songs of all time, “Billy Jean”, took the hearts of millions. “My favorite song was definitely “Thriller”, except for the ‘died, that was Just creepy at the age that I was at when it first debuted” (Shelton). People of that era will definitely recall the “Jackson Five. ” This was the band of Jackson brothers that would sing in a group for a few years until finally dispersing into their own careers.
